The Johannesburg International Mozart Festival.
As Franz Schubert put it: "O Mozart, immortal Mozart, how many, how infinitely many inspiring suggestions of a finer, better life have you left in our souls!"
In 2006, to coincide with the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth, Richard Cock started a Mozart Festival in Johannesburg. In 2009, this became the Johannesburg International Mozart Festival with a greatly expanded range of concerts and activities. These range from solo recitals, chamber music concerts to symphony and choral concerts.
In 2009 Florian Uhlig became closely associated with this festival a artistic director and his international contacts will ensure a more international flavour for this event.
This festival is based in Gauteng, Johannesburg, mainly at the Linder Auditorium in Parktown and Northwards.
