Last Night of the PROMS concerts are held in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Durban. They are a musical party following in the tradition of the Last Night of the PROMS which is held annually in the Albert Hall in London.
This is very much family entertainment and highly interactive with the audience joining in everything from Mexican waves to the Hallelujah Chorus.
By doing these concerts annually in 4 different centres the concerts have built up a following, which means that the charities which benefit from these concerts can do their much-needed work. Beneficiaries include Lifeline, St Francis Hospice, The Bursary Fund of the British Cultural and Heritage Association Wynberg and Rotary, who support several different charities.
Every year, new young soloists are given a platform and an opportunity to work with a professional conductor and orchestra. This is an important developmental part of these concerts.
